Source Code

The Atari 2600 had an incredible cult following, and its emulation following is equally as good! Luckily, for future emulation authors, it seems that every good Atari 2600 emulator for MS-DOS has a free source code distribution!
Linux
Stella
MS-DOS
A26
PC Atari
Virtual VCS

A26 v0.15b (MS-DOS Source Code) A26 is an incredibly small emulator that was coded in pure Assembly language. A series of emulators that have similar characteristics have been released

PC Atari v1.5 (MS-DOS Source Code) PC Atari is an excellent freeware Atari 2600 emulator that includes a built in debugger, assembler, front end, and help system. As far as emulation goes, lightning fast emulation, and a high compatibility rate make this emulator one of the most popular Atari 2600 emulators!

Stella v0.6 (Linux Source Code) Stella for X-Windows and Stella for Linux are the bases for many ports of Stella to all different types of operating systems, and are the first available Atari 2600 emulators. Stella v0.7 with many optimizations and improvements will be released shortly. (Check the Stella Homepage for information).

Virtual VCS v0.60 (MS-DOS) Virtual VCS is a great emulator that is terribly flawed by its lack of sound. However, most of the 2600's features are implemented, making this an enjoyable emulator.
