The Paradox

The following is taken from a recent email:
Hey there! It's been a while since we've spoken.

This is Rod from Paradox (I recently set up an e-mail account at Hotmail).

Just writing to let you know (so that you're not wondering any longer) that a MAJOR update is set up for our emulator. Reason: MAJOR help from Esnes.

Expect to see some real action in our next release, which should be available in a couple of weeks.

Any questions or comments please mail us at paradox@octonline.com. Regards, Paradox Team

Since NESticle, life is just one big party...

NESticle is the shit. Now there is profanity on this site, but its well founded. Full speed NES Emulation with an extremely user friendly interface comprises NESticle's initial success, but then looking deeper, we discover almost perfect sound, and support for many games exceeding interNES v0.6r! Look no further! Its NESticle! -tZ

DNESE on Ice

"I'm quite happy to tell you DNESE has not died. When I started DNESE I was not attending school and had much more free time. In the last few months I went back and my time was divided between my business and school. Any other time I had I used to just rest. Now, I'm glad to say, I have adjusted how my schooling works, and no longer have my use of time dictated by someone else. I will once again be taking up my work, where I left off. "

Super Virtual Gameboy

Marat Fayzullin wrote:
Yea, it is true: the SGB is basically a beefed up GB. I managed to emulate it well enough (colors, backgrounds, etc.), but not perfectly.

Another tidbit: Virtual Gameboy for MS-DOS is now at v0.8.4, and was temporarily picked up and modified with Marat's consent. Also, on John Stiles's site, he mentions that Virtual Gameboy v0.7 Plus will not be released because Marat will soon be releasing v1.0! Marat has made it clear that something major will be happening with Virtual Gameboy!

Meet Gary!

Hi,

Just thought I better let you know that I'm the author of the Linux port of Snes96 (and Solaris).

The story:
Jerremy was getting bored of Snes96 - he wanted others to take up the project. He sent me the source code and I ported it to Linux and Solaris. I spent several weeks bug fixing the CPU emulation of Snes96.

I then carried on to speed up the emulator and add new features such as snapshot support, Mode 7 and H-DMA - feeding the resultant source code back to Jerremy.

Jerremy started to get interested again. Using several of my ideas for Snes96 and several of his own, he started writing a new emulator, Snes97. Unfortuately, he didn't base his code on my Snes96 sources, hence Snes96 can still run many games that Snes97 can't.

I'm now on the Snes97 porting team, slowly moving missing features that Snes96 has to Snes97.

End of story.

The next version of Snes96 will have background and sprite clip windows - when it finished (this weekend) I'll move the resultant code across to Snes97.

The two main features that will then be missing are sound and colour filtering. After I've rewritten the CPU emulation in assembler, Jerremy and I are going to start work on sound.

Just thought I'd fill you in.

MacOS In '97

The PowerPC port of SNES '97 is well underway and will be released soon! Stay tuned!

Virtual SMACK '97

Chris George's Virtual SuperMagicom has quite a future to it. Although a commercial emulator, many users who have registered are already experiencing VSMC's great speed advantage to ESNES. For some registered users (like myself), VSMC 97.03(A) has been made available sporting a new interface and having several bug fixes. Currently, The Brain has started, and is working on SOUND, MULTIPLAYER IPX, and XMS memory usage! The future for VSMC just became bright again!
