Source Code

Gameboy emulator source, and Gameboy ROM source is quite easy to find when compared with Genesis source. Perhaps it is for this reason that most homebrewn console ROM development is for the Gameboy.

Gameboy BASIC (Gameboy ROM / Source)

Gameboy BASIC is a wonderful program by Jeff Frohwein that is virtually a BASIC interpreter running from a Gameboy! Gameboy BASIC can also be used to control a robot, and do many other things! See Jeff's incredible Gameboy page for more detailed information.

GB Sim 0.99 Last Release (MS-DOS Source/Binaries) The last version of another Gameboy emulator includes a disassembler, tracer, and source. Development was ended on GB Sim due to Virtual Gameboy's superiority.

Virtual Gameboy Amiga v0.4a (Amiga Binaries / Source) As it was produced in one day and never updated, not too much can be expected from this port. It is playable on an A4000 with CyberVision64 board working in the chunky mode, but a bit slow on ECS-equipped machines. Both sources and binaries are included so that screen drivers can be easily rewritten.

Virtual Gameboy v0.8.1 (MS-DOS Source) Virtual Gameboy for MS-DOS was successfully ported and enhanced by Marcel de Kogel. Marcel has left Virtual Gameboy due to many other pressing projects. Hans de Goede was allowed to modify Virtual Gameboy a bit before the next release from Marat, and has added color scheme changing during games and a few other features.

Virtual Gameboy v0.7 (Unix/X) Virtual Gameboy was one of Marat Fayzullan's earlier emulators, and his first console emulator. Marat has informed the public that v1.0 will soon be available with Super Gameboy enhancements and bug fixes.
