Nintendo felt the need to censor a few names, 71 of them in fact, in one of their best sellers, Uniracers. The list of words consist of vulgar, slang, references to SEGA Corporation, sexual and downright stupid ones such as POOF. Luckly words such as rape,sodomy, nigger and other rascist and offensive words were not used. Kudos to you Nintendo for making our world such a better place! The list of names are used in a pattern matching scheme. Meaning if you create a combination of words or use a word that contains one of the strings, the game will refuse to use it.
This list of names was extracted from the Uniracer ROM image and appear in order.
The names can be located at the file offset 0x185c5. All the words are in
lowercase and it seems that Nintendo only checks for this case. So by
converting all the names to uppercase, we can bypass this little censorship. There is an IPS Patch available for those who wish to be vulgar.
